Bye Bye Air Force...

My last day of work was this week. Needless to say, I was pretty sad to leave my squadron but since I've been on my first three days of terminal leave...I am loving this!!

Before I left the squadron I did get to do a 24-hour shift with the fire department on base. It was kind of like a perk that CE officers get to do if they want. So they had a few different exercises that day and we put on all the bunker gear. I expected it to be kind of heavy - but I didn't expect to not be able to move! At one point I was trying to get back on the truck and I couldn't even lift my leg high enough to heave myself up. The nice, young firefighter was standing patiently behind me but I still felt like an idiot! Oh well. It was fun.

Eric and I are going to the Central States Fair tonight for some fair food. I haven't been to a fair in many, many years and I'm sure Eric is in the same boat. Well -- 5 years since we've known each other at least! It's really cool and drizzly which will be fun, I think. Then we can put on jeans and sweatshirt and eat something yummy.

We'll post pictures of our fair goodies!!

Sturgis Rally underway

This picture isn't mine, of course, but a blog is no fun unless there are pictures to look at. Kind of like a newspaper article. I'm not sure if I'll go to Sturgis this year. It kind of lost it's excitement to me if I'm not wild enough to get a tattoo anymore. And I'm not.

But my Mom & Dad are having four bikers stay with them this week. They are people they know, of course, so it's not that strange. They will have the entire upstairs and their own bathroom, but the only thing that might suck is the location of the "party patio" to our basement--it's connected. Thankfully we have curtains for when it gets dark and we don't want them to look in on us through the sliding glass door. But that won't drown out the sounds of the wild bikers!! Ha, ha. It won't be too bad. They're all nice but there will be a lot of people around.

I've only got 2 weeks of work left!! I'm getting excited, but I'm still sad to hang up the Captain's bars. I've really gotten used to being called Capt -- and I LIKE it. Oh well. At least I got to be a Capt for a while.
