37 Weeks

This is the 9-month (or whatever), 37-week shot. It doesn't seem to show very well how big I feel or look. I'll have to get another one next week maybe. But it does show off some totally awesome hair...which is going to fall out in 6 months so I better enjoy it while I can!

Baby's Room

This is just another view of the room where the recliner is at. Bingo has already been prowling that room, totally disgruntled that this place isn't for him. We've kept this room closed the entire summer and will probably do so until the baby comes. But on nice days like today it's good to air the place out. It's going to be a real challenge to keep him out of this room when the baby comes. Not so worried about how he'll handle the baby (probably mild curiousity at first; disdain to follow), but I don't want his damn hair all over the place! Ugh.

Baby's Room!

We finally got the little dresser yesterday. So I spent the afternoon putting things away and playing in the baby's room. It had been a month since I ordered the dresser and since then had forgotten what the color looked like. I was afraid it was going to be some cheesy 70s looking thing. But it seems to match nicely with the floor. In this picture, it looks a little slanted, doesn't it? I don't think it's leaning to the left. I'll have to investigate that.

Ultrasound Pics

Above: The baby's profile. At the top you can see its little nose. Below that are big, fat lips and then its chin. You can see how its forehead is rounded at the top. I think that big round thing at the top left is the umbilical cord, because it shows up in every picture. I'm quite sure the tech was careful to not include any genitalia in the shots.

Below: This is the baby looking straight at us. Was a little freaky when it turned and did that. You can see the great big eye socket toward the top of the baby. You can see its cheek and chin pretty well, too. I'm thinking maybe that's its hand right underneath its chin? In one of these she said that it had its arm and elbow up by its face. The thing that's freaking us out is that big, black spot on its skull. Hopefully its a shadow or soft spot. Not a hole or something! The tech didn't let on that we had a problem...but she's a pro and would have to mask something like that anyway...

So I wasn't going to have an ultrasound, but something made me crazy and I decided to get one. Since my doc doesn't do them in his office, we had to go over to the hospital to have an ultrasound tech do one. I didn't realize that since she wasn't my doctor, she couldn't really give us any information on the baby other than pointing out its features. We got to see the face a lot and then we saw it's little legs and foot. It was kicking the snot out of me during the whole thing. We saw its little heart, kidneys and stomach. Even got to see its bladder, which was full! Like mother, like baby, I guess.

The pictures we got were of the torso and up only. She didn't even go over its nether-regions while she was showing us so we still truly have no idea what it is. We were happy for that. My doctor appt is on Thursday morning and the worst part about this ultrasound is that we have to wait until Thursday to find out if there any problems. To make matter worse, we see a big black spot in the middle of its head on the second picture, so of course we think it's got a giant hole in its head. I guess when no information is given (and we understand why they can't), it's easy to fill in the blanks with all kinds of worries. I'm surprised because I haven't had any major anxieties up until this point...why now? But I guess it goes with the territory. It

It was really active the whole time. She said that it kept bringing its arm up to its mouth, which I find hilarious. Like it was trying to gnaw it off (told you it was a hungry little thing!). The baby weights 2lbs 13 oz, which I think is slightly above normal for 29 weeks. I think that means we're not having a dwarf, which I was seriously afraid of since I seem so relatively small for this point in the pregnancy (well, I'm plenty huge, but I'm talking baby bump).

More to come on Thursday when the doctor can tell us everything is fine. Then I can stop thinking about it. Until then, here are the pics.

28 Weeks

Good grief, I am getting big. I thought it was especially interesting how much bigger I am in the evening (top picture) than I was that same morning. This is at 28 Weeks.

Sioux Falls Air Show

We went to the Air Show in Sioux Falls a while ago and got to see the F-22 Raptor on static display and a demo. SF was only one of three locations in the nation this year to get to see the Raptor. Early on, we got as close as we could to the static display (which was still pretty far) and while we were standing there we learned they would be taking off shortly. So, we stood up front and got to see a pretty good show as the jet taxied out and then did the overhead demonstration.

23 Weeks

My sense of time is all distorted. I thought it was over a month since I took that last picture, but it was only 2 weeks ago! Oh well, here's a belly shot two weeks later. I was getting pretty bummed that I didn't have a cute belly yet, but I do believe it's growing. I'm just growing all over which is kind of disheartening.

Baby's Room part I

Here's the baby's room at this phase. It took us forever to get the other furniture removed and put downstairs. We had a Rubik's cube going on. The basement had to be rearranged before we could put that furniture down there. Anyway, we got it and then painting took several weeks. It took a lot more paint than I thought. Baby Buttercup is the color and it turned out really well. I oiled the hardwood floor with lemon oil and got it looking spiffy again. We got my old crib (complete with teeth marks) from my folks last week and are well on our way to making a nice little nest for the baby. I got a rug that I"m going to keep in plastic for now in case I find something better in a bigger town. That's the sucky part about living in Pierre--zero options for anything. The next big purchase I'm after is a dresser/changing table. It's so nice to finally start putting this room together!

First kind of strange craving

I'm not sure I'd really call this a craving because I don't think I'll be eating it again. I have had some stuff like that during this pregnancy. I would fixate on a food that I hadn't thought of in a long time and I just had to have it: Dilly Bars from DQ, Totino's party pizza, Chef Boyardee Ravioli, Ramen Noodles.

Not to worry, though, I am balancing these infrequent food freak outs with healthy doses of water and fruit.

But today we had ice cream at work and I decided on the spot that crushed up plain potato chips were the only thing that would complete it. I added some caramel sauce on and then, for good measure, some strawberry sauce. It was worth it.

20 1/2 weeks

Ok, well here's a picture. I have an earlier one somewhere else and I'll post it when I find it. I don't really look all that pregnant--I just look fat. Nevermind the look on my face...it was 7:30 in the morning!

4th of July Weekend

Here are some pics from this past weekend on the lake in ND. I didn't take too many pictures except for few hours when everyone was boating.

Long time, no see!

Well, it's been a while...but there really hasn't been much going on this past month. Eric and I are just working and plugging along. I started taking some online classes and so I've been really busy with that. I'm just a school nerd--a glutton for punishment. This is really the most demanding schooling I have ever done!

This picture was too good to pass up. I learned that BS actually stands for Blizzard Sale. It was a big car sale at a local dealer. Many businesses in town had a similar sign on their marquee...but this one was priceless.
