Stephen Marq Live

So here's another artist that I enjoy -- Stephen Marq. If you don't want to watch him play the piano, then close your eyes and just listen. I love his piano music -- it speaks to my soul.

I'm on the road now and don't have my camera close at hand. I'll have to drop some pics on here this weekend. We had a nice Thanksgiving. First my folks came to our house on Thanksgiving day and Friday. Eric was around for about 5 hours of it, but at least we were able to eat a meal on Thursday at noon. Right now my Mom & Dad are on their way to Arizona in their RV. Crazy stuff.

Then we went to Brookings for Sat & Sun. We got to freeze our asses off outside while we watched Anthony ride in the Parade of Lights in a horse-drawn wagon. He saw Santa behind the scenes and was apparently quite taken with him. He seemed pretty happy to just hang out wtih his buddy Eric and do "guy stuff."

I've got nothin'

I really don't have anything new to talk about. It's business as usual with us. We are going back to Brookings this weekend so Eric can get some hunting in. He's been planning for and salivating about it for a while now. I think I'll try to go out with them and get some pictures, if I can. Then at least I have something to post here. Eric and I are hoping to get to a SDSU Jacks game on Saturday and we'll take Anthony with us. That should be fun for all.

My mom and dad are coming out to our house for Thanksgiving before they set sail on their own Mayflower until April. It'll be nice to see them before they leave for a while.

Here are some pictures that I stole from Kayla. Something crazy happens in my brain when I see their pictures -- I have to go and squeeze something and it's usually Bingo who bears the brunt of my scary love. I feel like I'm missing so much living only 3 hours away from them, but I suppose it makes the time we get to see them even better.

Virginia

Here are some pictures from Virginia. I have some more at work that I can post later, but here's few "artistic" ones that I was trying to take. We came a little early, I think, to see the fall colors in their glory, but it was pretty enough.

My imagination just ran wild as I was walking through the streets of Williamsburg. All of the employees were in period costume and they greeted you as if you were back in the 1600's. "Good Day," not hello. I even heard one shopkeeper tell a customer as she was leaving, "To your health!" I didn't get to take any tours of the buildings, but I guess I'll have to save that for a return trip with Eric.

Above: These leaves were just huge. And it wasn't just this type of tree -- I picked up some different leaves in front of the Governor's mansion that were as big as my head.

Above: These were the structures that you could get a pass to tour through. All of the townspeople sitting out front were really there to make sure you had a pass to get into the building. But I noticed the men were whittling on something and the women were mostly sewing something.

Above: This is the Governor's mansion. You had to pay extra to get into this one, but it looks like it might have been worth it. They had carriage rides going around and on the front lawn there were a few "gentlemen" standing around, strategically placed. If this training thing doesn't work out for me, I might have to move to Virginia and be a ye olde colonial employee!

Above: I thought this was an interesting picture because all of the townspeople didn't have a trace of anything modern on them (oh...expect for the one woman getting into her Toyota Camry in the alley). I saw these women walking by and they carried their belongings in those wicker baskets and they didn't carry water bottles -- they carried those pottery mugs.

Above: This horse turned its head just as I snapped. Yes, I think I'm some great outdoor landscape photographer, but it's fun to me to see if I can get a "perfect" shot. I kind of like this one.

Couldn't Resist

I could not resist the template on this blog. Kayla turned me onto a site where you can choose from thousands of fun backgrounds for the blog. I just had to take a blast from the past with this little She-Ra template. And one cannot forget He-Man. Hey, allow me my reverie from the 80's. I'm getting old enough where this stuff is finally starting to seem vintage...or at least nostalgic.

On to other news....I went home this weekend for a quick trip and got to see the family again. That dang Olivia is just so talkative. We had great fun with our little trained monkey and words.
"Say 'Octopus'"...."Okapus"

"Say "Lasagna'"... "La-yan-ya"

The translation of 'hippopotamus' is way too complicated.

At one point Olivia wandered off into the kitchen and my dad went looking for her. He found her looking intently into the garbage can. My dad said, "Are you looking for trouble in the garbage can?" Bad move. She starts calling out "Trouble...trouble!" Then she walks to the corner cabinet and starts tearing out the tupperware dishes. "Trouble, trouble!" I tried to redirect her out of the kitchen and thought it worked until she walks to the front window and practically starts to scream "Trouble, trouble!" Oh god. Then she starts to cry like she's really distressed. Apparently she thought that trouble was a person and became very upset when Trouble didn't surface. It was heartbreaking and hilarious all at the same time.

Noah is still Mr. Serious, but he is just growing every time I see him. And joy! When I stopped by their house on my way out of town he didn't even cry when he saw me. I held him and he even smiled at me. Baby steps....Just wait till he's older. We'll be pals.
